Bolimów is a place with old pottery traditions. The first mention of the pottery workshop gets as far as 1812. Till the I World War a pottery guild operated here with dozen or so members.

In the 14th c. on the left bank of the Prosna river the king Casmir the Great erected a castle which replaced the previous seat of Duke of Kalisz - Boleslaw Pobozny (Devout). The castle was to play a role of the border fortress protecting the Wielkopolska Region from the side of Silesia. Tumultuous lot of the 13-year war brought about its decline. A 22-metre high octagonal tower and fragments of walls built from Gothic brick and fieldstones can be visited.

Zaduszki - All Souls’ Day

All Souls' Day“Zaduszki” or All Souls’ Day is a modern-day equivalent of the Pagan Day of the Dead and is the traditional name given to the Catholic practice of remembering the dead. It falls on 2nd November, one day after All Saints’ Day. On this day Catholics pray for all those who believe in Christ and who have left this world and now find themselves in purgatory.

On this day people remember not only those people officially recognized as saints, but above all all of those people whose life was characterized by holiness. This is also a celebration for all those who spend their lives striving for salvation.
The day after All Saints’ Day (2nd November) is a day of remembering the dead (Zaduszki – All Souls’ Day)

Oscar winner director Andrzej Wajda

Andrzej Wajda17/10/2007

Andrzej Wajda (born 1926) - director, member of the Immortal Circle of the French Academie des Beaux Arts. He was honoured with the Golden Lion at the Venice Film Festival in 1998 for his contribution to cinema. He also won a Lifetime Achievement Oscar in 2000. He has held a wide range of social and political offices.
For many years he was President of the Association of Polish Film-makers (1978-83) and a Senator in the Polish Senate (1989-1991).

Sopot - Summer Capital

Sopot, called the summer capital of Poland, is a small seaside spa, officially approved as a health resort and together with the nearby Gdańsk and Gdynia forming the over one-million Tri-City agglomeration. On the land side the town is sheltered by  forested moraine hills and on the seaward side – the Hel Peninsula shields the Bay of Gdańsk, which makes the water of  Sopot beaches warmer than in elsewhere in the Baltic.
