If you are going to Poland but do not feel secure about what might happen, please, continue reading this article. It contains a few hints, maybe obvious but they might be found useful.
How to protect yourself?
Avoid poorly lit nooks in the evening and at night.
Abide by the recommendations of your tourist guide.

Do not carry much cash on you / credit cards are widely accepted.
Have an eye on your belongings such as cameras and video cameras, bags, etc.
Change money nowhere else but at banks or money exchange outlets.
Do not make acquaintance with incidentally met people.

If you have arrived in your own car:
Leave your car only at attended car parks.
Do not park at dimly lit or hidden spots.
Leaving your car remember to activate your alarm; apply other anti-theft devices you have.
Do not leave your car with anything of value in view.
In case of burglary report it at the nearest police station or to the first police officer you meet immediately.
Try to remember and provide the police with as many details and circumstances relating to the event as possible.

Public transport:
When visiting crowded places or using public transport make sure you only have the indispensable amount of cash on you.
A mobile phone attached to your belt or camera swung over your shoulder can be an easy prey for a thief.
Try not to doze off while travelling on public transport.
Never accept an offer of a snack or drink from strangers - they might add a pinch of sleep-inducing drug.
Keep a particularly keen eye on your luggage and check your pockets when getting off and on the public transport.

Wandering around the city on foot:
Avoid places off the main routes and city nooks.
Make sure you keep an eye on your bags and eye-catching jewellery.
A mobile phone attached to your belt or camera swung over your shoulder can be an easy prey for a thief.
